A Relaxing Sunday

January 26

Today was a very relaxing, low-key day. We were all very tired when we woke up this morning (at 11:30am) and really just wanted to lay in bed on this very gloomy and cold day in Gothenburg. BUT we only have three days left so we really wanted to make the most of the day! Cam, Matt, Sam, Nicole and I all got up and ready to go by 12:30 and were starving so we went to Espresso House again. We just cannot get over how good their sandwiches, pastries, and coffee are. Starbucks and Dunkin have nothing on the Espresso House, maybe I’ll open one in Kenosha! Below is a picture of the turkey and cheese sandwich I got and my favorite vanilla latte!

The best brunch ever

After our delicious meal, we decided to hit up Haga which is an area in Gothenburg with a lot more tourist kind of shops where we bought some souvenirs and more chocolates! We found a lot of cute boutique shops full of the cutest clothes that we tried on for a little bit while the boys went to a few other stores! I ended up not getting anything because everything is pretty expensive, but it’s always fun to try on! We walked into a lot of cute candy stores that reminded me a lot of Kilwins back at home. One had cannolis which looked so good and I wish I could take them all and take them home. I had to snap a picture of them for my Aunt Julie and sister because they are their favorites!

We then passed a cafe which was really busy but I had to snap a picture of the food they had outside. A worker was making waffles and crepes OUTSIDE! Now that’s how you attract customers. The display was beautiful!

This doesn’t even look REAL!

Walking around and checking out the shops and cafes was so fun. We really just had a relaxing time. We stopped in Cafe Husaren which we had gone to one of the first days we were here. It was Fika time which means break/snack time! We all got a dessert and tea. I got this amazing chocolate cheesecake that was honestly better than the Cheesecake Factory which is saying a lot for me. There were frozen raspberries served with it which were incredible!

After our fika, we went back to the hostel to get ready for iron chef dinner. JJ bought 10 pizzas and had us all go to the grocery store and split us into teams for starters and dessert. We took over the grocery store and my group bought starters so crackers, creme cheese, butter, bread, 3 different types of cheeses, salami, salmon, and ham is what we picked out. We all went back to the hostel kitchen and started to prepare our meals. We cut the bread, cheese, and meat and served them on a platter for those who wanted some! Others made artichoke dip and crackers as there starter. The pizzas came and we feasted! The desserts were pies, crepes and cream, and brownies. Everything was so good and everyone did a great job preparing the meals. Shoutout to Kendall and Lyndsey for making some amazing artichoke dip-you guys rock! Below are pictures of the dinner!

We’re going to bed early tonight because we have to get up early tomorrow for more company visits! We are going to AudoAdapt and Remente. Goodnight!

Daily Reflections

  • Gothenburg is a small enough city that everything is walkable, but it is really nice to take the tram
  • Any dessert you get here is going to be the best you have ever had
  • It rains a lot here in the winter-we haven’t seen snow or much sun!
