Today was our first full day and we had a BLAST! Gothenburg is considered a city but is completely different than the United States. I’m use to Chicago and Milwaukee and how much traffic there is 24/7. It’s amazing just to see how different it is overseas than the US, every little detail like paying for the bathroom, cobblestone streets, little to no English, using Krona and trying to convert. It’s very overwhelming and new at first and I’m sure everyone can tell we’re from the United States (we talk fast and are very loud). Below are a few of the things we did today!

We started our day with a bus tour of Gothenburg! Our first stop was the “Fish Market” which was full of fresh fish from the morning. We tried some smoked Salmon (thanks JJ) which was incredible! I’m a huge fan of salmon and it was probably the best I have had. I wish Kenosha had something like this!

We made three stops total on the bus and while doing so… it rained. Thank goodness Nicole and I came prepared with our umbrella’s! We had to stop and take a cute picture.

We stopped at a beautiful German church that overlooked the entire city. Unfortunately, it was closed inside but the outside was gorgeous! For those of us who are in Greek life, we decided to throw what we know! Starting from the left, Nicole is in Chi Omega, Jenna is in Zeta, Jackson is a skull, I’m in Alpha Chi Omega, Peyton is in Zeta, and Matt is a Don! The view was incredible and we loved taking pictures there!
The stops we made were so cool to see, we saw a ton of statues, art museums, cinemas, and more! It was a great bus tour and was very informative with the history of Gothenburg. Something really cool was that the cliffs and rocks in Gothenburg use to surround the entire city and protect the people from the Danish and overall war. We had a really good tour and I’m really glad that’s the first thing we did.

We then stopped in Haga and passed a ton of cute shops and cafe places! JJ treated us to a lunch at Cafe Husaren Hagabullen. We had these HUGE cinnamon rolls and lattes. It was SO GOOD! The Cinnamon rolls are famous here in Sweden and so many people get them for a treat. The coffee here in Europe is to die for. It is so much stronger and I actually like it more than Starbucks (which is new for me).

After we went on our bus tour, Nicole, Sam, Cam, Jackson and I did some shopping and took the tram to Nordstan. We stopped at a Tesla store and got to sit in a sick Tesla. Defiantly one of my dream cars, I could sit in it for hours!
We went shopping for a few hours and got a few cute things. European stores are so cool! I could spent hours in Nordstan. It was really fun and we actually got some really good things. We will defiantly be going back to buy more! We then got dinner at The Palace (look at my food post) and it was SO GOOD! I got fish n chips and they were probably the best I have ever had. The food here is definitely the best, I am a huge fan and am debating moving her forever. We then walked back to our Hostel which was about a 2 mile walk. The night walk was very refreshing and we actually found some really neat stores and restaurants.
Daily Reflections
- Coffee here is really the best, Espresso Houses are located everywhere
- I love seafood
- Getting on the transit system is actually way easier than I thought
- Europeans are very skinny and they are all so well put together
