January 29
It has been a LONG day to say the least. Last night, my roommates and I packed, blogged, wrote our final paper and stayed up basically all night for our flight at 8:30am! We left the hostel at 6:15am which is really pushing it for me. We said our goodbyes to the hostel and headed to the airport! I actually fell asleep on the van ride over, I was exhausted! Once at the airport, Nicole and I made few stops at our favorite places for the last time including Joe and the Juice and Espresso House. Both of which we had gone to multiple times during our stay and are very sad they aren’t in the United States. Below is the famous vanilla latte I have gotten almost everyday. It is hands down the best latte I have ever had.

We also went to exchange our Swedish money for US dollars! Once we boarded, I fell asleep instantly for our hour flight to Stockholm. The view while taking off was absolutely gorgeous as the sun was rising so I had to snap a few pictures!

Once we landed in Stockholm, we took a bus and ran to our connecting flight to O’Hare. We were the last to board and I was actually scared we were going to miss the flight. When boarding, a lady asked a ton of questions about what we bought in Sweden, if we had any plants, and more random questions. I was super confused with what was happening so I just kept saying yes. It was an odd experience that I later asked JJ about and it was just part of customs making sure we weren’t bringing anything illegal back into the states. Phew, I was a little worried. Once on the plane, we had a TON of seats open by where all the Carthage students were so I had a window and aisle seat to myself for 9 hours which was honestly the best thing that has ever happened to me. I loved the window seat and having no one next to me, it was great! To entertain myself, I watched a few movies and edited my final paper while also reminiscing on the trip. After awhile, we were served a dinner which was chicken, a salad, and beans. It was actually really good! I then tried to sleep for 4 hours but I don’t think I ever really fell asleep. (I cannot sleep on airplanes) I wish I could! We were then served another meal which was a cheese wrap! I checked out the window and noticed some beautiful mountains finding out we were over Greenland! How cool!

After the long flight, we got off and got through customs (which was way easier than I thought it would be). We then headed out and loaded up the bus back to Carthage! And now I’m at home in my nice bed! I’ve missed my family, dogs, and house SO much and am thrilled to be back! Thank you again for following my journey with me, I hope you have enjoyed reading my blogs as much as I’ve enjoyed writing them! Defiantly the experience of a lifetime, I will never forget Sweden! Until next time!
Daily Reflections
- I will miss Sweden so much, I felt like I lived there! I can’t wait to someday go back! I hope to go and explore more of Europe too and go to places like Greece, Italy, and London!
- I have been up for 36 hours and am not tired so that’s terrifying
- Window seats are the best!
What an experience for you! Have a safe trip home and a very Happy Birthday 😉
